DEKALB COUNTY, GA - Stunner Enterprises Inc. today officially announced the launch of The Championship – National HBCU Soccer Invitational, a premier national showcase created to elevate HBCU soccer through competition, culture, visibility, and opportunity.
Set for Friday, October 9, 2026, at Silverbacks Park in DeKalb County, Georgia, the inaugural event will feature a women’s and men’s doubleheader between Talladega College and Paul Quinn College:
More than a single event, The Championship represents the beginning of a new tradition - a national stage designed to create greater visibility, expanded opportunity, and a stronger competitive and cultural presence for HBCU soccer and the student-athletes continuing to shape its future.
A Defining Moment for HBCU Soccer
For generations, HBCU soccer programs have produced talent, resilience, leadership, and excellence - often without a national stage that fully reflected their impact and potential.
The Championship was built to change that.
Developed by Stunner Enterprises Inc., the event has been intentionally structured to:
Bringing The Championship to life has required a deliberate and collaborative effort across institutions, event operations, and collegiate athletic leadership — navigating scheduling, compliance, and operational requirements to establish a strong and sustainable foundation for the inaugural showcase and its future growth.
More than 50 years since an HBCU men’s or women’s soccer program last captured a national title, The Championship arrives at a pivotal moment for the sport — creating a national stage centered on visibility, opportunity, culture, and community.
Leadership Perspective
Tunde Adeyemi, Founder of The Championship and Stunner Enterprises Inc., said:
“The Championship is about creating what has long been missing — a true national stage for HBCU soccer.
This is bigger than a matchday or a moment. It’s about building visibility, expanding opportunity, and creating a platform that reflects the true excellence, identity, and culture of HBCU athletics.
We are building something designed to inspire institutions, empower student-athletes, and elevate the future of HBCU soccer on a national level.”
Building Toward October 9
In the months leading into the inaugural event, The Championship will continue rolling out institutional announcements, strategic collaborations, media initiatives, and elevated fan and community experiences as momentum builds toward October 9.
The Championship arrives at a defining moment for HBCU soccer - representing both a national stage for the sport and the beginning of a new era within the HBCU community.

The Championship is a purpose-driven national platform created to elevate HBCU soccer and strengthen the communities connected to it.
Each year, The Championship brings together HBCU men’s and women’s soccer programs, student-athletes, coaches, administrators, alumni, and supporters for a premier event experience that blends elite competition, culture, and community under one unified platform in Atlanta, Georgia.
More than a sporting event, The Championship serves as a catalyst for visibility, opportunity, and long-term growth—celebrating the excellence of HBCU soccer while creating meaningful connections that extend beyond the field.
WHY IT MATTERS
Across the broader NCAA landscape, HBCU soccer programs have too often stood on the margins - not because they lack talent, ambition, or potential, but because they have lacked a national platform built intentionally to spotlight HBCU soccer excellence.
The Championship changes that.
It provides a bold and innovative solution designed to elevate visibility, expand opportunity, and transform an underrepresented market into a high-profile annual tradition rooted in competition, culture, and impact.
By creating a national stage for HBCU soccer, The Championship strengthens growth, competitiveness, and recognition while redefining where HBCU soccer stands - both nationally and culturally.
